Workcover
WorkCover is the way Australia oversees workers’ compensation and injury management. It is compulsory for your employer to take out workers’ compensation insurance so that you will be covered in the event of physical or mental injury contracted in the course of your employment.
It covers full-time workers on a wage or salary and also those working in part-time, casual or seasonal work; commission workers; piece workers; and working directors.
The system is managed at the state and territory level in Australia. Although each piece of Commonwealth, state, and territory legislation is different, the basic obligations of an employer for workers compensation are the same. Employers are legally required to take out insurance with an approved insurer covering the employer’s full liability for workers compensation as well as damages.
